Areas of emphasis: anxiety, depression, trauma, gender identity and sexuality struggles, life transitions, parenting struggles, relationship struggles
Teens
I have over 25 years of experience working with the unique struggles that teens confront. My approach with teens, similar to adults, is client-centered, collaborative and interactive. I build trust in my therapeutic relationships with teens by meeting them where they are and moving at their pace of self discovery. I work with teens who are experiencing anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, emotional regulation, and who may be questioning their gender identity and/or their sexuality.
Adults
I use a collaborative and creative approach to create a space where clients can explore patterns in thinking, feeling, and behavior that may be problematic for them. Having a safe space and a witness to a client's process can help clients feel seen, understood and then able to make the changes they want for themselves. Depending on a client’s needs and goals, therapy can be brief or long term. I work with clients who are dealing with depression, anxiety, trauma, loss, or adjustment to stressors or life transitions.
Couples
Being in an intimate relationship with another human being is amazing and challenging. In couples work, I help partners learn to communicate better and increase understanding of the hidden dynamics (what we bring from our childhood) that may be impacting the relationship so that there is greater awareness, better communication, and more fulfilling interactions.

Parents
Parenting is hard in the best of circumstances, and very few of us are in the best of circumstances. I provide a space that allows parents to talk about the particular challenges that they are struggling with and normalize, problem solve, and potentially look at and heal unresolved issues and patterns from one's family of origin.

Families
My approach is rooted in a background in both Narrative Therapy and Family Systems which helps me guide families to an increased understanding of one another and achieve healthier communication and greater connection. I do not believe that anyone is “broken” or in need of “fixing," but that all individuals in a family contribute to dynamics that can be identified, reflected on and positively changed. I also understand that families often face outside systemic challenges that impact how they are functioning. We address these challenges and reflect on how they may affect individuals in the family or the entire family. By slowing down the process and helping family members increase their self awareness, I am able to help families communicate more effectively.
